I am pleased to inform you that I have been reinstated in my position at Laurentian University at Georgian. This was a long and drawn out affair that took a great deal of energy and good will from those of you on and off this site.

I would like to particularly thank Brittany Doner, Steve Sutherland, Steven Tremblay, Marianne Vardalos, Anas Karzai, Linda St. Pierre and Mary Powell.  Though there were many people who voiced their objections to my dismissal, the efforts of these individuals were invaluable. This development has put us on the road towards creating a positive academic environment in Simcoe County.

This was not only a personal victory but a victory for all
who have resisted neoliberal reforms to higher education and its attendant undemocratic administrative processes.  There are many options and it is high time that we begin to broadcast the storm of dissent that we hear every day and begin channelling that dissent into mechanisms for progressive change.

Once again thanks to all of you.

Sincerely,

Julian Ammirante

Justice4Julian Breaks 50+ letters!

Thank you to everyone who has contributed  a letter in support of Professor Julian Ammirante. Your kind words have been immensely appreciated by Julian, his friends and family, and the students fighting to have him re-instated.

We encourage students, former students, parents, friends, colleagues, and other educators to continue to write in support of either Professor Ammirante, or on the issue of the mounting problems in post-secondary education, and university partnerships in particular.

We thank you, and ask that you continue to spread the work and SHOW YOUR SUPPORT !

Sincerely,

Students of Laurentian@Georgian
